Green and mauve bathroom

We are purchasing a home with a green and Mauve bathroom.  Not really a fan of the colors but given that the tub is Mauve and is a Jetted Tub with dual shower heads and body washer/sprayers all down the walls...the $$$ that this must have costed will make us live with the color for now.

The toilet is green and the sink has green marble counters with a mauve sink,

The tile is white and green so my questions are 1) what style year do you think the green and mauve is from and 2) Is there any wall color other than white that would compliment these colors?

Re: Green and mauve bathroom

  • Early 90s, no and sorry!  Tongue Tied
  • Is the tub part of the shower, so there is a shower curtain to hide it?  If so, I would replace the sink and the toilet since those are not as expensive.  My mom had 70's green in her bathroom, and replaced the green toilet with white. She has a marble-like green and white vanity.  Then she put a taupe color on the wall which was a tiny tiny bit on the purple side and accented with dark purple accessories, so they room had kind of a classic powder room feel to it.  This only works though if you can't see the mauve.

Depending on the finish of the sink and tub, there are also options on re-painting them.  I think my mom re-painted her tub, and had no issues, but I don't know what product she used.

I also agree that mauve and green is from the 90's.

  • You can have the tub/tile re-glazed for not that much. We had the tub and surround done in both of our bathrooms and it made a huge difference!
