first time having sex

I married my husband as a virgin. After our first sexual in counter which was very uncomfortable the next day the left lip of my vagina was swollen and it itches. there is no discharge. I wanted to know is this normal. Could I have been allergic to the latex condom we used? Should I still try to have sex again? Should I see my doctor because it has been 5 days?

Re: first time having sex

  • It's normal for sex to be uncomfortable the first time. It is NOT normal to be swollen and itchy afterward! If the swelling hasn't gone down after five days, get to the doctor asap.

  • Try a Durex condom. Those are not made of latex.

you might also be allergic to the spermicide and/or lube if you used those also.

Switch lube brands or maybe look into the coconut oil lubes; those are non water based and pretty popular in uye.

See a doc anyway --- you might have also picked up a yeast infection (I used to get them when I used condoms with spermicdes)

In the meanwhile, keep the area clean and wear cotton undies.:) Feel better soon.

I agree with all of this except the bold. This is not true. I've used many types of Durex condoms and all of them were made of latex. In fact, while searching their website as well as other suppliers, I couldn't find anything from them that was latex-free.

  • YOu need to look for the ones that are latex free. I think each company makes a condom that is latex free. One company has one that is latex free, but feels more like latex. It is less likely to tear. Some of the latex free ones are vinyl and they tear easily. You should see your doctor. Also, may want to consider another birth control method. It is hard to start having sex with condoms. You probably need to experiment with lube. Go  for something simple not the ones with fragrance or warming. KY intrigue is a good one.
