Urethral sling surgery for stress incontinence

Has anyone had this procedure done? Any good bad comments to share about it?  I have been having so many issues with urinary stress incontinence and it is getting worse.  At under 40 years old, I cannot even exercise without having issues...anytime I run, do a jump, and gosh forbid I do anything that requires jumping and having the legs apart like a jumping jack or a squat...forget it.  It is awful and I cannot live like that.  My gyn and a urologist recommend the sling procedure, but then I just was reading some bad reports about them online too.  It's like I am damed if I do and damed if I don't, but I want to be able to live more "normally" without having the issues I am having.  However, I am scared about having issues with the procedure.  Thoughts?  TIA!

Re: Urethral sling surgery for stress incontinence

  • Have you tried seeing if you have food intolerances?  That's something that you should definately check out before you undergo surgery.  I don't have any experience with stress incontinence but I used to have bladder issues for years.  My bladder problems (interstitial cystitis) are kept in check with diet and stress management.

Check out this website that explains gluten sensitivity symptoms.  Stress incontinence is one of them. http://www.wellbladder.com/bladder_symptoms__gluten_sensitivity

Maybe for you it's another food that's causing problems.  If you live near Philadelphia or South Jersey there is an acupunturist there finds out what food intolerances you have in one visit if you're interested in a holistic approach.  It's worth checking out before you do something permanent like surgery.
