skin frustration. does anyone use proactiv?

I've been breaking out more regularly over the past few months. I feel like a 14 year old again and I hate it. Maybe my skin is getting too use to the face wash I use now? I just use a clean and clear + toner. My face has always been fairly oily as well and that's frustrating too, I feel like I've tried everything for it.
I thought about trying proactiv but not sure. Has anyone used it long term, how do you like it? Do you get more breakouts the first few weeks of using it? Does it help with oiliness too? Thanks! :]

I used proactiv in the past and was not that impressed with it. I use Murad now and love it. I used to use toner, but found it made my skin oilier and break out even more. So, I just use a cleanser now and make sure that I clean my makeup brushes daily. Most people say they don't clean them that often, but I find that if I skip cleaning them for a day or so, my skin starts to break out. Hope this helps.

I used ProActiv for about a year and I hated it. It bleached my pillowcases, and made my skin feel like parchment paper. I can't believe I wasted my money on that crap.

I switched to Arcona two years ago (they're based out of CA), and I LOVE it. It's made from all natural ingredients, and most of their products smell wonderful (white tea, raspberry, cranberry, red wine). They even have a line of products geared specifically toward acne-prone skin. I used to break out terribly.  I tried the "Simple" face products at wal-mart and I have cleared up wonderfully.  They work great and are pretty cheap as well!

I have literally tried hundreds of products to fix my acne problem (and thousands of dollars....no joke) over the course of 10 years.  My prescription of Differin at night and Duac in the morning helped 85% of it.....but it was my Olay version of the Clarisonic that really keeps that remaining 15% at bay.  It's the exfoliating.  I use Purpose liquid soap with it and it's really done wonders for my skin.  Btw, Proactive was one of the worst products I tried over the years.

I did not like Proactive at all!  I don't know if it was too strong for my skin, or if it was the product itself.  But I felt like it made my face look worse

I used Proactiv for a long time and thought it was okay, I used Murad and hated it - broke out terribly.  Then I cut all dairy products out of my diet and my skin cleared up completely.  I would also suggest the forums and products at www.acne.org.  Seriously - their skin care line, while very simple, is great and a great price when compared with stuff like Proactiv and Murad.
