Relocating

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are relocating to Denver in April. Any advice for where to live would be greatly appreciated. He is going to be working in Denver proper. We are looking for a suburban neighborhood w/ space. I keep seeing things about Parker; any thoughts?

TIA!!

Re: Relocating

  • I am fairly new to CO myself, but I wanted let you know that Iive in Lakewood/Littleton area and loved it!

    Welcome to CO!

  • Parker is a great area but it depends on where you will be working. That might be a long drive for downtown. However, it's a good area if you plan to work in the tech center.

I live in SE Aurora/Centennial. I love the area.

  • Parker would be a long drive to Downtown Denver, but totally doable if you were in DTC.

We are renting currently and live in Reunion. It's a pretty easy commute to downtown denver, and the neighborhood is fairly new, and has quite a bit of space. My BIL lives in Henderson which is a small community, and there is a newer neighborhood called Belle Creek which is adorable. I would also look in Westminster, that is also a pretty easy commute, and Westminster has some goregous areas. Parker is further out than you might think. I drive from Reunion to Westminster everyday and it takes about 20mins, fwiw

  • We live in the SE Aurora/Centennial area too, my DH commutes to downtown everyday.  I wouldn't want to live any further south, the commute time from here is long enough.
  • I think it depends on where in Denver he is working -- downtown or more towards Wash Park, etc.  Parker is great but a large area and there are some areas that while great, it might be a haul and painful in the winter.  Also for parker and some of the eastern areas, you are talking only a few major corridors that go all the way through -- 470, Arapahoe, Lincoln.  You might also want to consider if you want to have the option of light rail and such and if so, look to where those stations are becuase then Lone Tree, HR, Littleton and Centennial might make sense too.  Also we can talk school districts if you want and that's a whole different topic.

  • Welcome to Colorado! I just moved here also about 3 months ago. We live in Parker. It is a bit of a commute but totally worth it. I really think this is the best area near Denver. It has a small town feel but is an actual town. and the views are great. I love this area so much more then anywhere else I've been so far  :)
  • We live in a mountain community and my husband works in Denver. His commute is less now than when we lived in Highlands Ranch. .
