Thoughts on finding a discontinued fan?

We installed a ceiling fan in my son's nursery a little over a year ago.  Now, we're having a second boy and planning to move both boys into our guest room (making his nursery our guest room instead) b/c that room is huuuuuuuuge and will be a great shared space for them for the long haul.  Anyway, the room has two fixtures, so we were hoping to install the fan from the nursery in there and buy another of the same...but it's now discontinued.  Ugh.

Any thoughts on how I might come to acquire one?

I've been trying ebay, amazon (they only have it in titanium finish and I need white)...I bought it from a fan manufacturer online who later (of course) realized it was discontinued and cancelled, and I placed an order through google cart for one a week ago and haven't heard anything from them (phone number disconnected, so I'm just watching my credit card to make sure it isn't charged).  I guess I just wondered if anyone has run into this sort of an issue before and been able to track one down by calling individual stores?  My hope would be that there's 1 or 2 out there somewhere that were purchased from the manufacturer but never sold...or even a used one (since if I can't find another one, I'll probably be selling mine...so maybe there's someone out there doing the same thing).

Any help appreciated.

This is the fan if it matters :)

Re: Thoughts on finding a discontinued fan?

  • My guess is you most likely won't find it online as the majority of on- line stores ship direct from the manufacturer. Even retail lighting shops for the most part don't carry stock - though you can try using the manufacturers store locator and call around. You can even call the manufacturer and fond out from them if they have a lead, but I would bet the online sales rep has attempted that already.

Why not just buy 2new fixtures for the bigger room and leave that where it is though - your still going to have to replace that fan with something else. Given your odds of finding a discontinued item is like a needle in a haystack. It's possible, but is it really with the time?

  • I'm not sure if you've tried this place, but it's not saying it's out of stock, and it's letting me add it to the cart.

  • Thanks for the help ladies!

We ended up buying two of them in the titanium finish...I was thinking that since the curtain rod is metal, and we could bring in other metal accents, I could make it work.  They arrived last night and I don't really like the finish.  So I will probably return them.

I went ahead and made a purchase off that site you linked above, PP.  Thank you!  My guess is that there's a high liklihood I'll get an email today or tomorrow saying it's discontinued though, and cancelling my order, but my fingers are crossed!  Right now it says it's out for shipping.

The reason I don't want to leave the current one where it is and get two new ones (ideally) is just based on style.  It's a very modern, clean fixture and it goes great in our boys room which is super colorful and playful and fun...but when we make his nursery a guest room, I want more rustic accents.  I was planning to just go with a natural or brown drum shade in there.  Even if we do end up with two new fans for the boys room, I'll want to remove the fan in the new guest room and replace it, just based on look/style/feel.

Thanks again for the help and suggestions.  If that link pans out, I'm going to owe you big!! :)
