Hey ladies -
I'm a long-time lurker and am looking for some fashion help/inspiration...I'm attending a family wedding, in Pennsylvania at the end of September. The theme is "barn chic," and the wedding ceremony will be outdoors. The reception is in a barn, but it's absolutely gorgeous, with chandeliers and a dance floor, etc. The attire on their website says, jackets, ties, dresses and heels (so I guess I'll leave my Frye boots at home?).
What do I wear??? I live in the Northwest and don't want to look all "country mouse" at the wedding. I love color, wear a size 4 - 6 if fitted on the top, or an 8 if fitted on the hips...am 5'7". I tend to love more dramatic looks - or at least it seems like that. I like Kenneth Cole, the mad men collection at BR, DVF (bold colors/prints), and the Savvy and Individualist departments at Nordstrom. I don't want to spend a fortune, as I'm a SAHM, though I do love fashion and dressing up.
Anyone out there want to take this personal shopper challenge on?!?
Or at least offer advice?
Re: Barn chic - wedding guest outfit help
Play up your beauty in a floral cocktail dress and great heels. Have a pair of sturdy flats to get you in and out of the barn. Most renovated barn settings will have a dirt parking lot.
There isn't enough info about your coloring and your budget to give good recommendations on dresses. Nordy's is where I found my last two great dresses for weddings though.
I'm a big fan of Rent The Runway for weddings, special events, etc.
While I'll spend some cash on my daily wardrobe, I can't justify it with more formal attire. I don't attend too many weddings, etc., and when I do, it's usually with the same circle of people.
