grill recs please?

hi!  for all you grillers out there . . . i have never owned a grill, but through a convoluted hail-storm-insurance story, my FIL is giving us $320 toward a grill.  i am super excited but super clueless as to what kind to get.  for those of you who know grills, what would you get with the money i've been allotted?  TIA!

Re: grill recs please?

  • Important things to think about:

    1. How big do you want it? How big of an area are you putting it in? Bigger the grill, more fuel to heat. Will you make 45 hamburgers at one time :)

    2. Are you going to use the side burner? We never have and we grill several times a week.

    3. How often will you grill? If alot, it might be worth paying extra for heavy duty grates.

    4. Can you purchase replacement parts and grates easily?

    5. Do you want propane or charcoal?

You can get a decent variety of grills in that price range.  Highly rec. getting a grill cover to protect from the elements and a pan to go under it to catch drips.
