Wood trim, question about paint colors for walls

The wood trim in our house is similar to the one in the link below.  I love the look of white trim, it just looks so clean.  But,the trim is in great condition so I hate to paint it.  Any paint colors I should stay away from on the walls or would anything look good with the wood trim?

Re: Wood trim, question about paint colors for walls

  • We have white trim and molding throughout our entire home. The colors we have painted vary-light grey bathroom, slate blue bathroom, lavender guest bedroom- all of those colors looks great. I think almost anything would look good with white except really dark colors and jewel tones.

  • I had the same issue when we moved into our house a couple of years ago.  There was gorgeous wood trim in several rooms, and the rooms were all painted ligh shades of green and yellow.  It looked great, but I'm more of a clean, white trim kinda gal.  I felt bad painting over it, but haven't thought about it since (well, until I saw this post!).

  • We have wood trim throughout our house.  I kinda want to paint it white, but it's in such good condition that I can't bear to.  So we kept the trim and I have a variety of colors.  Master bedroom is pale blue, living/dining/hall is a pale yellow, foyer is a deeper yellow with brown undertones.  Kitchen is pale green. You can do a variety of things, just make sure you use light accent colors.
