When you have OOT visitors...

Where do you take them?

I just moved here 3 months ago, to Parker. and my parents are coming to visit!  YAY   it'll be nice cause DH and I have no friends yet and we'll be able to share Colorado with someone.

I need help with where to take them. They'll be here for 5 days. I figured I'd show them around our town one day. and take them to Colorado springs one day to see Garden of the Gods and ride up Pikes peak.     but other then that....  Idk   what do you suggest?

  • Drive up to Boulder one day.  Bit of a haul (over 1 hr drive) but it's fun to explore the shops of Pearl Street and eat lunch at The Kitchen (uses local and seasonal produce).  You can walk along a trail across the big street that I'm forgetting the name of that goes into the mountains.  It's a lovely trail along a creek.  Maybe look into seeing if you can catch a ball game at Coors Field.  Oh, there's something!  Maybe check out one of the breweries like Coor's in Golden or makers of Fat Tire up in FoCo.  Cave of Winds down in Co Springs.

  • We either go to Estes Park, we are a little closer than you are, I think. But its our favorite mountain town. Or we go to downtown Boulder.

  • The Zoo

    Coors brewery

    FC Breweries

Check out any free days in Denver for the museums.

Boulder-I hear they have good thrift store shopping. We just usually go to Peal St.

    16th street mall in Denver

    Mount Evans

    St. Mary's glacier

These are just some of thing things I have done with visitors.  It really depends on their interests.

  • What are your folks into? The Denver Botanical Gardens are lovely any time of the year. Dinner downtown area- go to Stubens (has been on Food Network) or Noodles and Sauce. For desert go to Liks ice cream.

There also are gardens down near Chatfield Reservior.

There is the Wildlife Experience place which is in the south area (just east and south of Park Meadows mall).

For an easy drive to a mountain area there is always a Jefferson County Open Space or state park. One of the ones I love is Roxborough State Park where you can do a total mellow low hike or 1 mile walk or go much farther an the Red Rocks are amazing there.

    Have fun.

  • 16th Street Mall downtown can be fun!
