Sleep problems--what do I do?!

I fall asleep easy enough. My problem is that I can't seem to stay asleep. Or just when I think I've had a good night's rest, I find out I woke my husband up several times by talking or moaning in my sleep. He says I usually call out for my mom or sister, and calm down pretty quickly when he speaks to me but if he tries to touch me like to hold or hug me, I start to cry. I don't think I need to mention how embarrassing this is for me, especially since I don't really have that strong of a relationship with my mom or my sister (not to mention I'm 23 years old!). I just want to sleep normal. No more whining or waking up extremely early.

I've tried moving to the living room and sleeping on the futon. All that happens is apparently I whine and moan and call for my mom and sister again. I'm not even sure when all of this started! This is my third year living away from my parents so I really shouldn't be homesick and my husband isn't abusive in any way shape or form. I want to fix this problem the most because the poor guy has to deal with it every night. Any suggestions or advice? And no, I'm not pregnant and I don't have any children.

  • Get a sleep study.

  • I agree...as someone with a sleep disorder, I'd seek help from a physician who specializes in sleep disorders.

  • I like to try natural approaches first. I've had on and off insomnia since I was 18 and what I use is a combo of valerian and melatonin. You can get these both in pill form at most drug stores or at any whole food type stores. Works for me!
