Has anyone rented or bought a "Bounce House"?

Hi!  Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!  Please let me know if anyone has ever rented or bought a "Bounce House".

Am starting to plan my daughters' birthday party and have looked into renting one... they start at 225.00 in our area to rent and you lose 50% if it rains.   A friend of mine said that it was more economical to buy one and set it up yourself.  I looked on Ebay and they start at about 200.00 to buy for a smaller one.

I like the idea of owning one - and would love to get a good deal on a used one.  I looked on our Craigslist but didn't see any local to us for sale.

Just curious if anyone has had luck buying one and setting it up themselves.  MY DH is handy and would be into setting it up in our back yard.

Thank you in advance!

Our Costco had them.  Try there.  Our friends have one.  They bought it online somewhere and it doesn't seem too hard to set up, as long as you have a flat area.

  • I have not done either, but one thing to consider if you do buy is having enough storage for when you aren't using it.  If I ever came across one cheap enough I'd buy it.
  • Thanks kac - I've never met anyone who had done that before...   Also 6, I hadn't considered how large it would be to store.

They have some cute ones on ebay - I would love to find one from a reliable source that was "gently used" but it seems all of them are sold new.

I'm on a budget too - and it would kill me if we rented one and it rained...

  • I didn't quite complete my thoughts, but a woman in my old mom's group had one.  It was a cinch to put up and take down, and the kids really did love it.  One other thing is that people will ask to borrow it ;)  Of course, maybe there is someone you could go in with?
  • That's a good thought too...
  • Here's a site (if you haven't already discovered it) that has a wide range of them and some are around the $200 mark.
