Hey everyone
I went straight from the knot to the bump and now that we have our baby I can concentrate on renovating our house. We are turning our basement into a hang out/ playroom for our daughter. I wanted to know what kind of flooring is best in the basement. We are having a french drain put in so hopefully no more water/ moisture. Any ideas?
TIA!

Re: Basement flooring
Hi:
I don't know what is best, but I will tell you what I did. We have a mixture of engineered hardwood placed over a subfloor and tile in the bathroom. All the contractors wanted to put down all carpet, though, saying the others would be too cold. Then in the next breath it was, "Oh, with carpet you won't need a subfloor." I think that was really the issue, they didn't want the extra work of the subfloor, but it does make all the difference. We used DriCor and have a warm basement. Our playroom has engineered hardwood with Flor brand tiles on top of it to make a large area rug. We love it and play on the floor all the time. The TV room has another almost wall to wall carpet and we flop on that floor all the time as well. The steps and the hallways and kitchette and excercise room are engineered hardwood. It look so nice that the basement doesn't feel like a basement. We left the storage area unfinished, so it is concrete (this is where the furnace is and the drain). Enjoy the basement redo. It is so worth it!

I think vinyl flooring is one of the best choices for the basement as they resilient and can withstand basically any amount of torture you can put it through as well as being waterproof.

We installed the Allure Ultra product from Home Depot. It is a resiliant flooring and was a little pricy but is 100% waterproof and has a lifetime guarantee. Worth every penny not having to worry about future water issues. It also is warmer than just the concrete was and look great!
