Over-watered pepper help

I live in FL and keep my plants in potters, so when it rains I move them away from the overhang so they don't flood, but while I was away last weekend, one of them got wayyy too much water (even away from the overhang!) and I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to get it to dry out and come back to life? I tried to squeeze most of the water out by pressing down on the soil, and it seemed like most of it came out, then I set it in the sun for a few days, but it's still all wilty and sad looking. Will it get better? :( I'm new at this gardening-in-pots thing and I don't want my peppers to die for good!
