Retroverted uterus?

So apparently all my period pain from the last 19 years stems from a retroverted uterus. Why they never noticed this on all the ultrasounds they did from the time I was 14 until now, I don't know, but that's a whole other story.

So has anyone ever been told they have this? What do you do for the pain? My dr said advil reg strength, but that hasn't worked for me in years. I also see some exercises online, has anyone tried them do they work?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Retroverted uterus?

  • I have a slightly retroverted uterus which was discovered during an ultrasound.  It gives me no problems however.  I was curious about it though and found that there is a massage technique that puts the uterus in the correct position.  Maybe there is someone near you who knows how to do this massage.  Here's a website with information about it:

    http://www.mayamassage.co.uk/

The website is British but it leads you to another website where you can find practitioners all over the world.  I found someone in PA that does this kind of massage.  I went to see her and she said that she has had sucess with clients but that my uterus was barely tilted and it wasn't worth to see her more than once.  Like I said I don't really have symptoms so I didn't pursue this further.

Thanks! I will have to look into that! I don't have any of the symptoms either, other than the whole massive pain thing. I think its not quite the root of my problem, but will do as they say until we can prove other wise.
  • I have a 'tipped' uterus too. Since I can remember probably since my first period, I have had doubling over horrible pain with my periods. Like leg trembling, crying, sweating, feeling like my ovaries are tearing out pain. The worst of it is the few days before and the first day, but I get cramps starting when I ovulate, pretty much just getting worse and worse until I get my period, then my cramps last about 4-5 days into my 7 day period. So I really only have 2 1/2 weeks completely pain free. The only thing that works for me is taking 2 Aleve everyday of pain. And I really have to catch it before the pain, or right as I start feeling the pain, or it won't do much. I know the bottle says only take 2 the first day and 1 after that, but sometimes the pain is so bad I take 2 in the morning and 2 at night, until it starts subsiding, and then I take 2 in the morning 1 at night, and so on. Short of taking vicodin (which makes me sick) its the only relief I have been able to find. Also, if you have pets, have them sit on your belly. The warm little body feels nice on your cramps, and you have a pal to hang with while dealing with the pain! lol

    Thanks,

I have used Aleve in the past and it never works very well for me. I have been taking three Tylenol Arthritis everyday for the last month for a wrist issue, and last night my cramps were unbelievable. I realised I can't take aleve or advil or pretty much anything like that while on the Tylenol which sucks. I ended up taking a naproxen, which I hate, but it cut some of the pain. I think I have to go back to my dr. This is too much for me to handle.
