"tanning" options...

I never went to a tanning bed until I got married, and then only for my wedding, and once following for a vacation. Although I do use a light SPF in the day I still manage to have the typical "farmers tan". Its bothered me lately because I'm noticing a lot of fine lines on my face, etc.

I'm going to vegas in October and considered trying Mystic tanning as there is a tanning salon close to my home that offers it. I then however read online that if you plan to go into a chlorinated pool that the tan would come off in patches or "slide" off and look terrible. I tried using Jergens natural glow, and while I used it years ago with great success, it looked terrible this time. My legs are fish belly white, and there is no way I can put on a swimsuit, shorts, etc. and go in public.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could try? I'd like for the tanning bed to be my last option....

Re: "tanning" options...

  • I hear great things about the st tropez tanning mousse not the lotion.

Though some random words of encouragment...if the mousse doesn't work just have an amazing time. tanning beds are nasty and will give you even more wrinkles/fine lines so it seems to just cancel out the work your doing to not get them as quick

  • There's tons of great self-tanners out there! Go to Sephora and try a few samples. Loreal Sublime is a really good one from the drugstore.  I'm positive you'll find something that works for you.  You don't want the gradual self-tanners, just try the regular ones - mousse, lotion, spray, wipes...there's so many out there now.  The tanning beds shouldn't even be considered an option...well, you already know why.

I just got back from Vegas, had a fantastic time.  Where are you staying?

Sorry! It took a while to get back on here... such is life with a toddler. We stay at Bills Gamblin Hall, which is right next to the flamingo (also you get free access to the flamingo pool since Harrahs owns them all). We've stayed there since it was Barbary Coast. There isn't much to it, but with only four floors you don't have to wait for an elevator and you get a view of the fountains at the Bellagio. Where did you stay? Catch any shows?

  • My favorite self tanner: Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel.  It's awesome.  St. Tropez is also nice, and I have tried a few of their stuff, but IMHO Clarins is the best.

Oh yeah, we saw that Bill's hotel, great location for sure, and I've heard it's not bad at all. Bonus that you get to use the Flamingo pool and see the fountain shows!

Well this time we stayed at the Cosmopolitan for 3 nights, then went out to the Red Rock Resort for 2 nights.  Both were amazing, loved them.  No shows this time, my sis & mom weren't interested, wanted to shop instead, lol...but we had a blast.

  • Or you could try Mary Kay Subtle Tanning Lotion. Tanning beds are sooooo out and unhealthy.
