Cover Letter Formatting HELP!

I need some good websites for a professional cover letter formatt.

The cover letter will be sent in a e-mail formatt (as requested by the employer), but I can't figure out who to make the letter to specifically (use "To Whom It May Concern?")

I also need to know where I should talk about certain topics...

Example: paragraph #1: Introduce yourslef... paragraph #2 etc...

We're also re-locating to a new location, so I need to state somewhere in the cover letter when we'll be moved into the area and when I would available to work. But where in the letter should I put that bit in? In the begining? In the closing?

Thanks!

Re: Cover Letter Formatting HELP!

  • If you can call and get the name of the person who will be receiving the emails, do so. WHen all else fails use "Dear Sir or Madame" as the salutation.:)

I usually bullet point all my qualifications. Easier to read, more eyecatching and it does not get lost in a paragrapy.

Paragraph one: state that you are applying fot the widget supervisor job. mention where the ad ran and on what date (they may have several job postings for it on various sites/newspapers) and that your resume is enclosed.

    Then bulletpoint your qualifications.

Mention the relocation after your last bulletpoint. State that you will be emailing the person to follow up next week and that you are looking forward to meeting with the hiring manager face to face.

After that sign off (Sincerely yours, Mary Smith).

The whole cover letter should run about 3/4 of a page.
