Quiet Books

I've been coming across some really great quiet books on pinterest.  Some of them sell on etsy for $60!  That really motivates me to make my own.  The only thing is, I don't have a sewing machine.  Has anyone made one before?  Would it be reasonable to sew by hand?

Re: Quiet Books

  • what is a quiet book?
  • So my crafty friend attempted to make one for Eleni when I was pregnant.  Eleni is getting close to 5 and I have given up on it ever being finished.  I just think that it is a lot more work than you think goes into it. All the cutting, sewing all those individual pieces to the background. I do not hold a grudge over the unfinished busy book. But I do love the one the friends mom made for her daughter. So full of love (and made with scraps of fabric from the new mom's childhood). I just don't think it is a beginner project.
  • Madeline got this one for her birthday which was reasonably priced and has held up really well in case you decide not to go the sewing route.  http://www.amazon.com/Constructive-Playthings-Quiet-Book/dp/B0010AG4JU

Thank you!  I have been know to get in over my head with crafting projects.  Thank you for bringing me back down to earth.  I knew there had to be a reason they go for so much on etsy.
