  • Regardless of which % you are, you aren't entitled to what anyone else has.  I don't love or hate the 1%.  I respect the ones who earned it and don't respect the ones who lied and swindled.  Even still, I don't feel entitled to take any of what they have.  I'm only entitled to what I earned and worked hard for.

Wow, you are contributing so much to the board.  We all bow down to the power of your intellect.

By the way, why are you a coward?  Why do you contribute nothing of substance, only dismal, vacuous one-liners or websites with no gravitas?

I am still trying to figure out why you are on here posting nothing that anybody would care about, then going back over to Proboards and saying, gee, they're so stupid, they're like the most backwards and rednecky of my relatives.  A whole thread----seriously?

  • I don't hate the 1%, and I don't blame them for voting for whichever party better serves their interest. I think it would be much better if they were willing to funnel some of the money they could never possibly spend back into the country, but hey - people are selfish.

What I don't understand is why people who are not part of the 1% place the needs of the very wealthy before their own.  I don't get it.  Why wouldn't you want to see more money put into the economy to improve life for the entire country?  Why do you think massive tax cuts for people with extreme wealth is a good thing?  How does this make America stronger?

If the answer is that they'll use their savings to create jobs, please save it - it's not true.  They're going to save that money, and they're going to continue to ship their jobs overseas because it's cheaper to run a call centre in India than it is to run one in the US (for example).

  • Has anyone ever seen The Company Men?

I know it's just a movie, this trickle down economics discussion just reminds me of it. The CEO of a suffering company has shittons of money, yet instead of taking a pay cut himself, he just lays more people off so that he doesn't have to pay them.

I think it's fairly realistic, honestly.

  • I don't dislike that the 1% is wealthy - good for them.  I mind that they use their wealth to stack the deck and pass policies that siphon money to the top, away from the people that need them most.  That's pretty douchey.
