I've also done clicker training with my cat, and there's a chapter on getting them to be calm in their cage and on car rides.  I would look into that because it has really turned around my cat's behavior.

    What book is this?

Your kitty is your baby right?  So pack a bag like you were traveling with a baby.

I successfully accomplished a 14 hour car ride with my not so car friendly cat.  My cat does NOT do well on car rides.  She does it all, pukes, poops, pees, cries (rather shrieks the whole time) and at least one of the accidents within 15 minutes on the road.  Once I didn't even make it out of town before she had an accident.  So when we were planning on moving I had talked to the vet.  She gave me kitty valium and a motion sickness pill to give her.  Every 6 hours, starting 2 hours before we left.  Miss kitty didn't quite appreciate a pill being shoved down her throat or limited quantity of food/water (I gave her just a small bit to go with the pill each time).  I sat in the back seat most of the time to comfort her as well.  And to our surprise, she had NO ACCIDENTS the entire time!  I was shocked!  But needless to say I still wont be taking her on any long trips anytime soon.

If your cat does have accident, just plan ahead.  I had a travel bag for my cat since she's never been a good passenger.  Paper towels, lysol wipes, pet wipes (for cleaning her fur when she gets poop on herself).  I used a puppy pad instead of the carrier bedding and had back ups just in case.

    I wish you luck!
