Emmiegirl, Rubyred and other camera experts
I have asked before but somehow I lost the info. What camera do you guys use and what do you recommend? I'm thinking about getting serious with photography, it's been a dream of mine for more than 30 years LOL, so time is running out if I ever want to rival Ansel Adams...any thoughts?

Hi Jane!
Well, we are definitely "Nikon people." I shoot with a Nikon D50 and a D200, and DH just recently bought the D700. If you want a great DSLR with a lot of features...without spending a fortune, I definitely recommend the Nikon D40 or Nikon D60. They are both similar in size. The D60 has more megapixels, but you won't be able to tell a HUGE difference in that unless you want to enlarge the photos bigger than about 8x10. The D60 is a little more expensive, but it will allow you more creativity. My top rec would be the D60...it's a great camera! We've really enjoyed our D40...mainly because of the size...and I think the D60 is similar in size.
I also highly recommend Wolf Camera...that's where we buy all of our equipment. Here's a link:

Also, check out B&H...they have a great reputation and are very dependable...

I currently shoot with a D300.
I wouldn't recommend the D40 but would definitely recommend the new D60 as a starter camera! It has much better options especially if you are looking into trying out different lenses and such.
I also use B&H as well as Beach Camera. You can get great deals with them and they are very reputable!
let us know if you have any other questions!
