  • I have not taken it, but I am a pharmacist and can help answer your questions. Toenail fungus therapy is usually 12 weeks long. It takes a long, long time to kill toenail fungus because it is slow growing and embeds itself in the nail. A lot of people don't experience any side effects of this medication because it is pretty well tolerated.

  • DH has ben taking it for 6 weeks now...his hand is improving but not the toenails yet.  In week 1-2, his hand starting peeling like crazy....it was really painful, as it was all fresh skin and cracked/chapped skin, but it cleared up after about a week.  I almost made him stop taking it, but it healed, so we figured it was just the drug targeting his one hand.

Lamisil is tricky and can be toxic to the liver.  You have to have your levels monitored and you shouldn't really drink or take Tylenol or anything else that could stress your liver while you are on Lamisil.  But since it is oral and systemic, it will work and hopefully fix the fungus for good, rather than the topical solutions.
