Always photos and try looking at the dollar store or thift shops.sounds crazy but you can really find some good things at dollar stores. Not going to be the best quality but good enough looking to help ya out until you can get the things you really want. If you want to DIY try buying things at thrift store you can make your own. Like maybe paint an ugly old gold lamp from the flea market to look like something you see in magazines, I got $1 wood frames then spray painted them and roughed them up with steel wool or sand paper. I had rustic frames that cost like $10 and $20 in store for like $3-$5 homemade. Get on pinterest! :)  Oh and sometimes fake flowers can help because you can change them for the seasons and keep them for next year. Just be sure they don't look totally cheesy and fake. Large stones in a low sided basket or bowl with candles looks great. I could go on and on!!! If you have a Dollar tree or Dollar General around check them out! ( some stuff is really generic but not everything) Be sure you look outside for accents(woods,stones,grasses,leaves...if you have allergies, avoid the last two) ;)

Have you not heard of paragraphs? Damn.

Could be posting from a phone...just saying.

Probably, but that doesn't make it any less painful for those of us trying to read it. Another reason I prefer proboards, it's not an issue to post from your phone.

  • Have you seen apartmenttherapy.com?  Love it!

How crafty are you?  I have seen large stretched canvases in multi packs for super cheap at Wal-Mart.  Acrylic paints are pretty cheap too.

Browse thrift stores.   There are always treasures to be found if you keep an open mind of what they can become.

  • Also check craigslist...you can get some really good stuff there for cheap or even free....you'd be amazed at what people just give away because they are either moving or just want to get rid of stuff.....

I've actually been looking on there in hopes of finding a sideboard/buffet cabinet for my dining room, but now have opened up to the possibility of just building one myself....with hubby's help, of course ;)

  • You can really do a lot with paint!  Even just an accent wall is pretty simple as far as time and $, and can add a lot.  GL!
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • One other thing too - if you have accent pillows for your sofa, you can always change the cover of those to something different, which isn't a lot of $ and can change the look of your living room....we did this for our sofa accent pillows and it makes such a difference (small, but still refreshing change)
