Eyelid Twitching

I have had a very annoying, persistent eyelid twitch for the last 8 weeks. It happens pretty much every day, and some days it is much worse than others. When its bad, its all day long. I have looked online and seen that the obvious triggers are stress, tiredness, caffeine, etc. I did have some stressers about a month or so before this started, but none really now (except the twitch!!). I get about 7-8 hours of sleep per night, but I am running around after a 18-month-old. I drink maybe 1 cup of coffee per day, take a multivitamin, drink lots of water, but nothing seems to help!!!

I went to my eye doctor this past Tuesday and he saw nothing wrong with my eyes. He did give me an anithistamine eye drop, but it hasn't helped. Told me pretty much it could be stress, etc, and it would go away eventually.

Has anybody every had this problem for this long?? Did you do anything to make it stop? I'm wondering if it something else that I've missed. It's becoming upsetting! Thanks!

Re: Eyelid Twitching

  • Wow, that sounds really annoying!  And surprising considering you're not having much caffeine.  What about sugar intake?  Sodas?  It's probably stress...

This sounds like a good reason to get a massage to me.

  • I don't have any advice but I just wanted to tell you you're not alone.  I have had this problem for six months.  It does go away when I'm 'less stressed' but it is very uncomfortable.  I've been thinking about going to the eye doctor.

  • I had this to right through and after my wedding and I am sorry to say but there is nothing you can do it will just go away on it's own. The doctor told me all of the same things stress, lack of sleep, lack of vitamins. I also got an eye exam and everything was fine. You may want to check if you have allergy problems that you may not know about. It will one day soon go away and you will be like wait a minute my eye isn't twitching?! I hope it happens soon, it is SO annoying.
