O'Malley: we're not better off now than we were 4 years ago
Re: O'Malley: we're not better off now than we were 4 years ago
Did anyone who followed politics actually think we'd be better off in 4 years?
And O'Malley seems to be blaming Bush, not Obama, for it not being better than it was 4 years ago.
The question," he continued, "without a doubt, we are not as well off as we were before George Bush brought us the Bush job losses, the Bush recession, the Bush deficits, the series of desert wars, charged for the first time to credit cards, the national credit card..."
Fez, you're not helping them glaze over the facts if you point out the things they're deliberately not reading.
I'd say we are better off now than we were 4 years ago.
4 years ago the real estate bubble had popped and the economy was in a tail spin. The unemployment rate was marginally better than it was now, but there were almost no jobs out there for job seekers (I know, I was seeking at the time). Although there is a lot of competition for job postings, at least there are postings, and things are getting better.
Obama can also legitimately say the Republican congress has intentionally sabotaged the recovery, especially job growth. But the fact is, things both feel better than they did 4 years ago and they are still improving.
