Do you have an enclosed staircase?

We just bought a new house which has an enclosed staircase (walls on both sides). I'm fine with it 11 months out of the year but I love Christmas and I'm really struggling on how to decorate this. How would you decorate it?

Re: Do you have an enclosed staircase?

  • Here's the url for a pic: http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m567/holly_ryan/Staircase.jpg

I can't figure out how to insert a pic apparently.

  • We can't open your picture.  To PIP, you need to have the photo on a hosted site (photobucket, shutterfly etc)  Then take the image URL of the actual picture and use the link with the tree above.

Can you hang some festive pictures on the walls?  Wrap the bannister with something?

  • I wouldn't do anything to the staircase, but I'd hang something decorative from the end of the banister cap. And, I'd get a pencil tree for the corner near the stairs and that cabinet.

I just got a 7' pencil tree on sale for $158 with free shipping and a free Christmas tree bag at www.treetopia.com

I would focus on that little corner as well, and maybe the banister, but I wouldn't hang anything on the rail.  My experience is that it just ends up in the way.

  • Do you have anything hanging on walls along the staircase right now?  Like framed photos or paintings?

We have several pantings in our upstairs hallway, and I cover them with wrapping paper and bows for the holiday.
