Would you hang pictures here? PIP

We recently made a board and batten accent wall, which I love.  We had planned to hang some artwork(or framed pictures) up above the top rail, but I think I like it plain.

Here is the room as a whole.  We just moved a month ago, so it is still a little sparse.

Would you put some stuff above the board and batten, or leave it as is?

Re: Would you hang pictures here? PIP

  • My friend stencilled a quote from her wedding above her board and batten wall.   I like the look of it as its enough but not too much.
  • I think maybe some small simple decorations.  Not photos, though.  Maybe mirrors?  Or three similar square things?  I think they have to be simple or else it will look too cluttered, though.

  • I like it as is. The wall is so pretty (great job, btw) that anything else would compete rather than complement, I think. I might do something to beef up the wall decor on that far wall though - maybe add to what you have and turn it into more of a gallery wall?

The room looks like it's coming together really nicely - love the coffee table too. :)

  • No, I wouldn't.  I think the accent wall should remain the focal point.  However, I feel like the wall with the desk looks bare.  Everything is grouped in the center, leaving large blank portions of the wall.  I like the idea of a gallery wall, like someone else mentioned.  Or maybe a book case in the corner that runs into the accent/tv wall.  On the other side, maybe some tallish plants?  Or a shelf that you can hang a drapey plant from?

I definitely agree with you guys that the mirror wall is bare.  I was thinking I like the idea of a bookshelf over there, maybe one of the leaning ladder type ones?  I'd love to put a plant there, but I really think my kids would mess with it too much.

Thanks! My mom made the coffee table out of a chicken coop!

This! I also like the idea of adding more to the wall with things hanging already and really make a collage of family/friends pictures and other framed artwork.
