I'm not sure if this is the board for this question, so feel free to redirect me.
We purchased a Tempur-pedic Cloud king-size mattress set about 6 weeks ago. I loved the feel of it in the store and for the first several nights. I do find it a little warm, and that was a concern, because I am a hot sleeper, but I found I was pretty comfortable if I just slept with a sheet -- no blankets. But when I turn over, the "imprint" I just left is very warm, and I have to move slightly away from it because I don't like that warmth.
More concerning is that over the past few weeks, I have been having back pain -- mild achiness, but I find that I am having a harder time picking up my toddler, sitting for long periods, etc. I have thought back over what lifestyle change could be causing this, and all I can come up with is the bed. But Tempur-pedics are supposed to be fabulous for people with back issues, right?
Our 60-day trial period will come to an end mid-September. I talked with my husband about it today (he LOVES the bed, btw), and he said it is not worth it to live with it for the next 20 years if it is causing me discomfort. But I'm not positive it's the bed that is causing my back pain. It seems rather extreme to return the bed and select something else, when it might not have anything to do with the bed. When my husband called about returning it, the customer service rep (at the furniture store, not a rep for Tempur-pedic) politely made the arrangements, but said she has heard from some people that it takes as long as 18 months to "break in" the bed.
I'm not sure what to do. I haven't heard of anyone who doesn't love their Tempur-pedic. Just wondering if anyone else had misgivings at first, but ended up loving it over time?
Re: Anyone unhappy with a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Whenever I change mattresses, my back hurts for the first couple days, then stops. I haven't heard of it starting to hurt later.
18 months to break in a Tempur Pedic is complete bull, no offense. Disclaimer: we don't have the official TP, but have 2 others, and there's no break in period whatsoever. Do you have a guest bed you can sleep in for a few nights? That should answer your question.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I do not own a TP, but a friend of mine bought one and disliked it for the very reasons you mentioned above. TP also gave them a hard time about returning it but they did so anyway. If you don't like it, return it. You have had the mattress long enough to decide regardless of what TP thinks.
They give me backaches. Anything without springs does, or anything too hard.
Must have springs!
They are terrible for getting it on. But if you don't have a good sex life anyways, who cares.
LOL. I am going to add this to the list of reasons NOT to buy one. My husband wants one bad. After he hears this though.....
I love ours but I got a much firmer version than the Cloud. The Clouds are very soft and can aplify any back issue. We went with a Contour Select I think.
And yeah, they are terrible for getting it on!
