Rock the dress

I am so excited! I had been thinking of doing this for awhile now, but money was an issue. I didn't want to spend a ton of money for this, and I H wouldn't have gone along with it. I asked a friend of mine who takes awesome pictures and just started working with another photographer. I figured she had never done anything like this, but she's done some "before the baby arrives" photos and lots of portraits. Her price is super reasonable.

While I had gottten a lot of great photos from our photographer, I really wanted shots that were more fun and casual. There were also shots I didn't get that I wanted (like street shots), so I figured this would be a good way to get something different. My friend is really excited by it, and it will help her with her portfolio, too.

For those of you who have done this, did you wear all the same things you wore on your wedding day? I was thinking of forgoing the petticoat so it would be easier to move around and just wear flats. I have already said I didn't want to ruin the dress, so no going in water. I was thinking about apple picking, running in leaves, etc.

Any ideas, advice?

  • I just did mine last Friday and it was a blast! I wore the same jewelry that I wore on our wedding day and I didn't wear any shoes. My dress was a silk charmeuse fabric and being in the water didn't ruin it at all. I never had it dry cleaned since the wedding because I knew we were going to take these pictures and once it was dry, it was actually cleaner than before hand. The bottom was so brown and yucky from dragging on the floor all night and now it is spotless so being in water won't necessarily ruin your dress!

I was wondering about this!  I hadn't planned on doing one of these, but if my photographer is going to do one for free for us...I'm still kind of undecided, haha.
