History of the Republican Party
Of late, I've seen many Republican supporters discussing the history of the GOP, going back to the 1860s. I *think* this is typically brought up in the context of why the GOP isn't racist or otherwise evil. Just out of curiosity, why do events from the 19th century seem relevant when discussing specific issues on the Republican platform in 2012?

Because they like the good ol' days when the uppity folks knew their place and women didn't talk back.
