Do any of you remember the silly rhyming songs from elementary school? The ones with some sort of hand clap. I was doing yard supervision this morning and I heard some girls singing a rhyme and it made me think of the one I use to sing.
I remember "Mailman, mailman do your duty. Here comes Miss Amercian beauty. She can do the pom-poms. She can do the splits. But most of all, she can kiss, kiss, kiss. K-I-S-S."
Which ones do you remember playing/singing in school?
Re: Poll:Childhood Rhymes
Miss Mary Mack Mack Mack
All dressed in black, black, black
With silver buttons, buttons, buttons
All down her back, back, back.
She asked her mother, mother, mother
For 50 cents, cents, cents
To see the elephants, elephants, elephants
Jump over the fence, fence, fence.
They jumped so high, high, high
They reached the sky, sky, sky
And they didn't come back, back, back
'Til the 4th of July, ly, ly!
Mailman was one of my favorites and then we would have to do the splits until we were all the way on the floor..ahh good times.

I remember...
Down by the banks, of the hanky panky. Where the bull frogs jump from bank to bank. They go hip hop, hip to the hopitta. West side east side kurrrrr......plop.
Or something like that.
The kids are still doing al the same ones we did. Michaela comes home with "new" ones all the time and is always disappointed that I already know it.
She did come home a couple of years ago with one I didn't know though. Something like...
Lemonade (clap, clap, clap)
crunchy ice (clap, clap, clap)
stir it once (clap, clap, clap)
stir it twice (clap, clap, clap)
I don't remember the rest of it but it just keeps getting faster until you can't understand it anymore.
I'm a nut
