I read in another post that you work for ChaCha and make $10-$12/hr? I work for them too (I'm an expeditor) and only make about $4-$5 an hour! My DH is a guide and makes a little more than that. What do you do for them that you earn so much?
Re: *Smilejenn*
It's a work from home job. Basically people send text messages to ChaCha, and you can answer them from your computer. Guides make between 10-20 cents a question and expediters (which is what I do) earn 3 cents a question. It's open 24/7 and you don't have to guarantee you'll work any number of hours...just sign in when it's convenient for you. You can read more here:

If you decide to join and want to use a referral (you also earn money for referrals) you can use me (missangelicabwf@hotmail.com)
I'm a Guide, so I think it's much easier to money than it would be as an expeditor. I type 80wph, and I'm very familiar with the internet, so that helps! Otherwise, you get faster over time. I've been with the company since April.
I referred my husband to ChaCha a couple months ago and he's making about $10/hr - I'm so proud of him! lol I didn't think he'd make more than $5/hr.
If anyone would like to use me as a referral, my email is smilejenn@aol.com!
That's great that you have been able to keep up your typing skills! I typed 120 in college, but it's dropped as I've gotten older. lol I can't even type 100 consistently anymore!
I love being a Guide and getting different types of questions. I love the people search questions because I know exactly what website to use and I can turn them around quickly
You made a great point about how the pay increases for Top Guides. I had forgotten that they implemented the paycut for those who don't make Top Guide. I haven't missed T.G. yet, <knock on wood!!!>
Now that I'm thinking about it, keywords also have a huge influence on how many questions come your way.
Good luck with your ChaCha career!
I still work at a computer all day long...I work in a quasi-tech support position (online community support that is) so I do a lot of typing. I'm sure if I wasn't doing this, my speed would slow down too!
Good for you for not missing top guide...that is really cool! I think it's awesome that you've maintained that much dedication to working from home without being told what hours to work (and having a little one to take care of too!)
Good luck with your ChaCha career too
ChaCha really is the perfect job for me. I love working on the computer, and I've always wanted to be solely responsible for my performance/income. Working at Disney for several years, I was tried of seeing:
A. team members getting paid the same amount as I was when they didn't work nearly as hard.
and
B. team members getting paid more than me just because they were with the company longer - even if they had lower productivity.
But Disney is an entirely different story lol
Online community support - is that forum moderators, and such? If you are ever looking for another online job, Google hires quality monitoring people for $15/hr.
Thanks for the tip on Google...I'll check that out! Part of what I do is forum moderation, but I also do a lot of content management and technical support for the site.
I can relate to the pay situation you mentioned before. I put in long hours and have a ton of responsibilities and get paid less than anyone else in my department. I've also been with the company longer than anyone else, so I guess my problem is that the company is hiring more people at higher pay but not adjusting employees who have been here a long time to compensate for it. I did get a generous merit increase this year...but still..getting paid less than everyone else. UGH.
If that google thing pans out, that would be PERFECT because that's actually about what I earn now
