Any UOs today?

I have one--I just can't get on board with the gladiator shoe/sandal. Not cute, IMO.

Re: Any UOs today?

  • If you are on welfare, do you have to have a picture ID to claim your benefits? Does anyone know?

  • I don't like those sandals either, at all.

My UO: I know people are politics fatigued, but I love it. I've been watching both conventions and look forward to the debates.  I've already sent off for my absentee ballot and I'm excited to watch the election coverage play out from London in November. I am interested to see how much the rest of the world cares about our politics (or alternately, if we'll even be able to find coverage outside of the Internet).

Food stamps are loaded onto a debit card so that depends on whether or not the grocery store checker IDs them I suppose. I'm sure they are supposed to ID.

Daycare assistance is on a card swipe/pin system and must be swiped in/out daily to get benefits (if the signs at every daycare are to be believed anyhow).

I don't know about anything else.

One of my BFFs lived in London during 2008.  She was soooo p!ssed at the people in London because of their opinions of the American politics.  Anyway, she was at a board meeting the day after Obama was elected and someone actually said "It is about time those Americans stop being racist and elected an African American President."

I will let you all stew on the irony of that statement for awhile.

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if ID wasn't required. A certain IL of mine was worried about not receiving WIC benefits anymore now that her H is working, but when she went to get her stuff recently "they didn't even ask for income verification!". Ridiculous.

Oh boy. I am not either. Esp those sparkley ones. Yuck.

I don't like TOMS for myself (my feet would too sweaty in those) but the pink sparkly ones DD has are too cute on her.

I was totally going to add that yes, they're not for me. But on kids, especially those pink sparkly ones, or my teenage nieces leopard ones, they're just stinking adorable.
