putting oil in a hot pan?
Neither my husband nor I are good cooks and we lack some basic skills and understanding. We were following a stir fry receipe that said to heat the pan on high then add the oil. When we added the oil it flamed up huge and I am pretty sure our new stir fry pan that was a wedding gift was ruined.
How do you put oil in a hot pan without causing a fire?
(I am looking for cooking classes in my area now too...)
Re: putting oil in a hot pan?
what type of oil did you use? i stir fry all the time and always add the oil to the hot pan and never had a flare up. i also remove the pan from the heat when i add the oil too though.
the pan may have been too hot for the type of oil you used. I use canola oil for stir fry. i also never use HIGH heat, only med-high.

yes that's what it seems. LOL this would prompt me to tell you to make sure you know how to put out an oil fire as well-just in case.
better luck next time
