I need ideas for a community function. Greet and Meet? Social activities? Sp-rouse the Caboose :- How do you get the local companies like Home depot, Lowes, Local garden store to contribute to gift cards/special rates?
Re: Community gathering.
Is this just to get people together? Wbat sort of community make up (kids or adults only)? Time of day/year? What's Sp-rouse the Caboose?
My neighborhood does a 4th of July picnic. The kids decorate bikes and they get some fire/ems people to do a little parade. They give prizes to the kids for decoration. They also have a bounce house, a basketball shootout, and a the fire trucks shoot water. I guess it's more for the kids, but the adults have fun too.
Food is hot dogs provided by Meijer (grocery) on grills residents bring and potluck. They bring out the alphabet into thirds and do hot sides, cold sides, and desserts.
They get a TON of donations- food and door prizes (100s of door prizes). The people that donate get free advertising depending on what they give. Smaller donations get mentioned when giving the prize. Bigger ones get put on a large sandwich board at the party. The largest donations get to hang banners on the tent. Everyone gets a mention in the community newsletter. Basically, offer the people something in return. We have everything from a body wash/shampoo from the salons, gift cards for manis/pedis, oil changes, tire rotations, fast food, pizza, and nice restaurants.
I guess after this we can actually plan events on the weekends.
