Re: Weekend Plans?
We're going to tailgate at the OU game with a few friends and family. I'm super excited about that!
That's about all we have planned... but it should be a good weekend hopefully!
I am sorry, but I can't help but side eye the individuals that have a wedding the evening of a home game. Good Lord.
I'm sure the wedding was booked before the schedule was released. I booked my venues a full year in advance (and had to) so scheduling around football didn't come into play.
I know, I know.
The bride's family are all OSU fans and the groom is from out of state.
I had to schedule my wedding around OU and Texas. We were away at Baylor on my wedding day.
No big plans this weekend. Thought about going to the zoo tomorrow, but with it being Saturday and the weather being nice, it'll probably be packed. So we may skip that. Otherwise, heading up to Guthrie with the pony on Sunday for a riding lesson.

Interesting...did I know this? We were away at Baylor the day *after* our wedding day! But yes, we scheduled around OU and OSU football. Of course!
BIL and SIL were married on OU/TX weekend in Austin almost 8 years ago.....that was fun. To be fair the ceremony was after the game.
We originally had set our wedding date for June to avoid football season entirely, but family circumstances meant that we had to reschedule for the fall. We originally tossed around a date later in September, but it was a home OU game so I immediately said no way. Instead, I picked a day that we played Baylor away (this was before Baylor was semi-decent) and Texas was off since for some strange reason H and his family are fans. We didn't have too many OSU fans at our wedding, so I didn't worry much about their schedule.

I always wanted a fall wedding and we needed to be out of town for our honeymoon around Thanksgiving since DH was in law school. We picked that Friday. Baylor was away the next day. People still b!tched because apparently some of DH's friends were going to go to Waco to the Baylor game which is horsesh!t because they didn't go to the game that year or any year prior or any year after. This past year, some of our friends got married on a Sunday, the day after Baylor but their rehearsal dinner was during the Baylor game (again, away game). Same friends b!tched that they had wanted to go the game. Rolling eyes. DH's friends are more b!tchy than any of my girlfriends combined. My dad wanted me to get married in December so we could have the reception at the Kerr McGee Club (they won't hold events there during the fall). Yes, that is exactly how I want to start out married life, at the OU football stadium. NO THANK YOU!
