Northern girl cooking southern inspired meal....
I have tons of green tomatoes that are not ripening so I thought I would have friends over and do a southern inspired meal...fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits and pulled pork sandwiches. Anyone have a recipe they LOVE for any of these things and also any suggestions for sides and a dessert? THANKS!

This is my fav pulled pork recipe and I always get rave reviews (I'm from the South). I use Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce.

FYI, cooking grits can be really tough. I would suggest before you have your party you do a trial run of the shrimp and grits. Research and look at a lot of recipes before you decide.
A very southern way of frying anything is to dredge it in flour with a little salt and pepper mixed in and fry. You could also dredge it in cornmeal.
Huh? If the OP can make oatmeal, she can make grits. Your comment's like saying boiling spaghetti noodles is hard - I'm baffled.
OP, this is a recipe for shrimp and grits from a nationally recognized restaurant. I'd give this one a whirl. The chef is a James Beard winner. Use quick, not instant, grits.
