can someone clear a "fact" up for me
Did obama rob medicare to help fun the ACA? I have heard yes and no and I'm honestly just confused which is true now
Re: can someone clear a "fact" up for me
There are some changes, and that's why some are saying he robbed it and some are saying he didn't. IMO, it's a gross mischaracterization to say he robbed it because everyone that gets medicare will receive the same coverage. None of the changes affect the beneficiaries, only private insurers and hospitals will be affected. For example, if a hospital sees excessive readmission rates then they get a smaller payment.
A lot of the hairy details are in here: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/15/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-said-barack-obama-first-history-rob-me/
good site. thanks!
Know who your fact checkers are, who owns the company and what their motivations are. They choose which facts to check and what fibs to ignore......
Both Obama and Romney/Ryan will "cut"/reduce Medicare spending. However, Obama uses the savings to help fund Obamacare (about 1/3 of the costs of Obama care are funded by Medicare savings according to the CBO)
Romney/Ryan will put the savings back into Medicare to extend it's viability. Romney/Ryan will give future "retirees" the option to stay in the current Medicare plan or use a voucher to make their own choice of coverage. It does not go to a full voucher plan as the Dems claim - original Medicare and Voucher plan will co-exist.
That's not really true, though. Romney and Ryan will be putting that same $716 billion back into medicare, but NOT to the recipients. It will be going back to the private insurers. Under Obama's plan, that $716 is yes, helping to fund Obamacare, but is also supporting another 8 years of the current Medicare system for the recipients. Under Obama, Medicare as we know it will be safe until 2024, where as under Romney/Ryan, it will end at 2016 and then become a partial voucher system. Any sort of voucher system is a terrible, terrible idea for this nation.
Is the link inaccurate?
I did not say that. See bolded.
The bolded suggests that they aren't telling the full story, which would render their review inaccurate. Coffeebeen asked you if there are inaccuracies and you're avoiding the question. Can you tell us what was missed in the link, or are you just being difficult?
I am not here every day. I never said the facts were incorrect. I said be careful of the sources where you get your information from and what their motivation could be. They can check whatever facts they choose to.
I never said there were inaccuracies.
