Going back to WW! Weight loss weekly thread?

I've made a decision to get back into weight watchers. This program worked for me before so I know it does work. I just need to think about how I eat, what I eat, and portion sizes a lot more than I am right now.

I have to work on Saturday (catering) so it will be hard for me to be completely on the program, so I'm going to start on Sunday....get some great essentials at the grocery store, start looking for healthy new dinner ideas, and really get back into the mindset that this is something I can do if I put my mind to it!

I'm also hoping to start small with the exercise (probably the hardest part for me) so I'm going to commit to walking for 20 minutes 3 times per week, plus going to my yoga class twice per week. Eventually I'd like to get back to the gym and start to tone, but I want to work my way up to that.....

My goal is to loose 30lbs, be comfortable in my own skin, fit into my clothes, and feel better about myself! :)

If anyone else wants to commit to a weight loss/healthier living journey, I'd be happy to start up a weight loss thread (maybe once a week) to check in on how everyone's doing. This would be helpful to me since I would be held accountable for my commitment, but also would be a great place to share issues, struggles, and hopefully sucess!

Re: Going back to WW! Weight loss weekly thread?

  • Yes please! I am a super picky eater and it is so hard for me to actually eat healthy foods since I don't eat any veggies and only limited fruits. Mostly for me it will be portion control, eating at home more, and exercising.

I have somewhat already been working on this since Aug. I have a medical condition which makes it harder for me to lose weight and in Aug I started new meds that have been working and so far I have lost 10lbs. My goal is to lose 30-40lbs by Jan. And then set a new goal after that once I see changes.

I too want to be more comfortable in my own skin, wear smaller clothes since I have the hardest time shopping for my size, and then just be healthier in general.

  • I started back on WW about four weeks ago.  I did AMAZING the first two weeks (lost 9.2 lbs!) but have fallen off since then.  I'm lacking the motivation to get back into it.  I think, because I did so well in the beginning, it was going to be really easy for me... but I didn't lose at all that third week, so I was quickly discouraged.  I'd loooove to be your WW accountability buddy!  Let me know if you find good recipes, fun workouts, etc. and I'll do the same!  I'm excited that someone else is doing WW!

YAY!! :) Honestly, I think all of this is way easier to do when you don't feel so alone in the whole process...H can eat anything he wants and not gain a pound, so he doesn't need to be on a weight loss plan, which makes me feel a little alone in this, but not anymore! He's supportive, but doesn't understand all of how I need to eat to be healthy.

Maybe part of the weekly posts, we can discuss new recipe finds, fun workouts etc, too. The format could be like we do with polls and random ?s...something like:

    10lbs! that's great :)

H doesn't eat any veggie besides corn (not even a real veggie) so I always have to figure out a way to eat healthy dinners without using veggies. I usually keep a frozen bag of some veggie and just make one portion for myself and add it onto the plate with my dinner. I like to sneak in veggies when we eat soup, or if I make beef stew since H won't really care if there in there if there's somewhat hidden!

  • Also, how do Fridays work for everyone for this weekly thread.

We can totally do threads more often if someone has something going on, but I think Friday would be a good day to check in and see how everyone's week went.

  • Count me in! I was doing well with my weight loss before the wedding, but then my dress ended up being too big, so I had to gain the weight back (there wasn't enough time or money for alterations). From there, I just went totally overboard. Right now, I'm trying to keep up with portion control, drinking LOTS of water, and working out at least every other day. 30 Day Shred is my workout of choice, plus I speed walk on my breaks at work and I'm vowing to take the stairs at work.

My weight loss ticker is below, but more than the numbers on the scale, my focus is how I look and feel. I don't mind being thick (I actually prefer it), but I want to be tight. I have a closet full of clothes that no longer fit which I'd like to wear again. And after a back injury at work (I'm an EMT), I've been sitting behind a desk answering phones for over a year. I'd like to get strong enough to go back in the street and do the part of my job that I actually enjoy, which is hands-on patient care. But I need to know that if I have to carry a 300lb unconscious guy down 5 flights of steps, I can do it without killing myself, my partner, and the patient. Hopefully if I stay motivated, it'll happen quickly.

  • I'm in!

I lost about 30 before the wedding, then let myself go nuts with eating on the HM and never really got back into my healthy mode... I haven't gained anything back, but I'm not losing like I was, either. I'd still like to lose about 35 more pounds.

Fortunately, we love veggies (H probably more so than me) and only eat meat about once or twice a week. I think my biggest downfall is snacking on bad stuff and not drinking enough water :/

  • I'm in.. H and I have talked about trying to eat healthier... i think for us portion control is the biggest issue.. .and we LOVE carbs... never met a carb I didn't like...

Exercise for me is a big issue too... I don't do much of anything. I sit at my desk all day and then go sit on the couch. We go for walks.. sometimes.... and I go to yoga once a week.

I'm ordering a Bowflex Treadclimber this weekend. H and I talked about it extensively, and though they're expensive... he has a bowflex machine.. and if I order this.. we're going to make a little work out room in our basement... and try and do it together for a half an hour a couple times a week.. and still go for walks with the dog while the weather is nice.

I went to Curves for 3 years with my mom and at first I lost 20 pounds.. then I gained 10 back.. but managed to keep 10 off for 3 years.... I was happy with that.. but i was exercising 3 times a week... i know if i exercise i can keep weight off... that's my biggest thing.

  • Honestly I am happy with my weight...I am about 8lbs heavier then my "ideal weight"...but I am sick of feeling unhealthy. I has a really stressfull year before the wedding, and when I am stressed I don't eat, so didn't really bother to worry too much about weight...BUT I am sick of feeling unhealthy and sick of feeling like my tummy is drawing attention..

I used to be super active....running 3 times a week, hiking another 2 times a week, and was easting 80% vegetarian...that all went out the window after going back to school and meeting H (who won't touch a vegetable with a 10 foot pole)...now I mostly want to get healthy so that I feel like I look good in my clothes, and have more energy. Maybe keeping tabs with what you all are doing will motivate me to get off my ass and go for a run....

  • I'm in...I lost 10 before wedding and back up 8... Ugh help!

I would LOVE to joing weight watchers but it's SO EXPENSIVE!! I was trying to lose weight with My Fitness Pal and it just wasn't working. So for the past couple weeks I've been upset about not losing weight and have been eating terribly (makes sense right?). I need to be better about eating well and working out more.

Ugh, I know! I have all of the materials and everything that I need to keep track of my points and stuff. For now I'll be weighing myself in every saturday morning instead of going to the meetings.

I am a lifetime member at WW (I lost and kept off over 30lbs before) so I can technically go once a month and weigh in and pay if I'm over my "goal" (which I am) so I'll probably just do that once per month instead of going every week.

  • I love this idea! I was going to mention it yesterday when we were talking about fun threads to do.

I'm training for a half marathon so I need accountability to make sure I'm on track with my running. I've also gained weight since getting married and moving in with H so I definitely need to lose about 15 pounds (the weight I gained plus what I wanted to lose before anyway).

  • I'd love to join in on this! I was doing WW before and got basically to my goal weight for the wedding. And now, just three months later, I've put on 10 pounds (and I'm just 5'1", so that's a huge deal). I'm up two or three sizes and really need to get back on track and lose those 10 pounds.

Excercising is going to be the hardest part. I can go on long walks with the dog (3 miles) but I've moved to a small town and have a long commute to work plus there's really no gym around ... Ugh.

     Anyhow, I'm in!

I love that part that I bolded.  I think I feel the same way, I'm happy with my size, I just want to be a little more tight in some areas.

I, too, love Jillian's 30 day shred.  I just got her 6 weeks 6 pack and Butt & Thighs in the mail, I'm hoping to start those this week :)

I have specific measurement goals that I'm reaching for more so than weight, and I've only planned on measuring once a month, but I'll chime in when I do measure/weigh!  :)
