Re: moms of 1 yr olds/soon to be 1 yr olds HELP!
i think you already know my answers to these questions, right?
?
are you doing it at home, or looking for a venue??
464 lol...
ok i'll stop..
umm, i need a venue because her b day is Jan 24th and last year it was cold and RAINY..uuggh
so i'm looking to getting a rec room at the local community center? should that amount be in the budget???
Not sure what are you live in, but there are lots of nice rooms available for rent at Griffith park. I've been to many parties there. It's nice because they have an outside area attached to the room. so, if it is too cold for some, they can be inside with the food, while you can have a bouncer, or whatever right outside.
There is also a cool place in South pasadena that I have been to that rents out a play area called Amy's Playground, it is located on Mission. You can bring in your own food or they will provide pizza, cake, etc.
I did Gavin's in a park, but it was April and not as chilly. So, I just had a taco guy come (if you need a taco guy, he is amazing) and had cake and drinks. So, it wasn't too pricey at all. I had to contain myself from going over board, DH would have choked me...
hi MINDY!
i *heart* that new picture of Gavin, it looks like he's saying, HI right at me!! soooo cute!!
jordyn just *hearts* amy's playground. i have one of their mini memberships! but that place might be a little too small for our family...
but i'm digging the idea of having it at griffith..how can i get more info on the rooms for rent?
We did Ella's party at my SIL's house. Her theme was, "fairy first birthday". All the decor was butterflys, flowers and pastel colors. Micheals had a huge sale on faux flowers so we bought those up to use everywhere. Came out cute....
Over all the total price of the party, with favors, food, drinks (which did include alcohol) was around $500-800. I did cut some corners by asking a family friend to cook the meats for us vs. hiring a taco person and by making our own decor:)
Ella's outfit was my favorite part of her party:) And now that I look at it, it can easily be re-created by using a standard pillow case pattern:) If you are interested I can email it to you. If you can do a straight stitch you can make this dress. Then you just sew on all of the "extras". If you are opting for a princess theme, you can just take away the flowers and add jewels:) And instead of a flower head band, you just do a tiara:)

We were going to do Katie's party at the park, which would have held a ton of people, but because it was at the end of October, Matt wanted to do it somewhere that we could move it inside if needed. His cousin offered his house (on half an acre) and we did it there-which is why we had to limit it to family and 2 close friends. With just that, we were pushing 100 people (his family is huge). It ended up being hot that day, so we had it outside with his pool and waterslide bouncer.
Here is my break-down
Goodie bags (kids 10&u) $4.00 per child. We had 27 kids under 10 = $135
Food: Tri-tip, Corn, Chicken, Salad, Baked Beans for adults. Ralph's had tri-tip for $1.99 a lb that week, so that is why we went with that.
$35 for tri-tip
$20.00 for chicken (legs and wings) Smart and Final
Corn was $8 for 13 pieces at Lombardi's Ranch $24 (we cut them in half)
My mom made the salad and the beans
Cake = cup cakes at Sam's club = $30
Decorations/Balloons = $50
Chips/Salsa/Cookies = $20
Pineda = $15 + $20 filling
Drinks = $30 (my dad brought beer-he works at Budweiser part time)
Bubble machine and parachute borrowed from friends
My sister did face painting (she got the stuff for it)
Tables and chairs were borrowed from Matt's sister
I am not sure what I am missing, but looks like we spent about $400 or so for everything. I feel like I am forgetting something....but you get the idea.
