Hi there,
I'm steadily losing weight and would really like to work on my strength/fitness and toning up. Getting out of the house with 2 children, poor weather, and a husband that works late is really hard. Sometimes I manage a walk, but mostly I jog on the spot while the girls are napping, or playing. I also throw in some stomach crunches and push-ups. But I would like to have a more focused routine.
I'm familiar with stomach crunches, push-ups, tricep dips, bicep curls, squats, lunges and a couple of other toning exercises, but don't know how many reps or sets I should aim for. Should I focus on upper body one day and lower body the next? Any suggestions for a good routine or any websites I can check out?
I don't have any free weights, but am happy to make use of household things like tin cans.
Thanks
Re: Toning exercise/strength routine ideas?
Hi there, I have recently been certified as a Natural Trainer and love functional fitness workouts. Some free sites that you may love are "body rock TV" go to the older ones by a lady called suzanna, she has the best workouts and also a beginners workout on a rooftop which is great, she knows her stuff and has modifications for those who need it, she uses little to no equipment. Another site that may be useful is the ACE website, you can join for free and it also has no equipment workouts as well as a plethora of alternative workouts, everything is described in great detail and also summarized. There are also workouts available online for the gym I work at called Monkey Bar Gym, so you may like to check them out. It can be useful to join an online group to assist with consistency and also have a support network. Best of luck to you.
Cheers
Kirsty
Hi there! I like Insanity, and know p90x, turbofire, and brazillian butlift are also great Have you ever heard of any of those? There are a ton, but i know you said finding time was difficult, they can all be done at home in 15 min to an hour, and they don't use little to no equipment, which was also a huge score for me!
I also agree with what Kristi said... Sometimes having an online support group helps because you can do all of it from home. I was having trouble sticking to any type of routine, so I joined an online group and it really helped me be committed to making the time and eating well. Let me know if that interests you, I can give you the details. :-)
