I'm leaving in a few weeks for a long weekend in San Antonio. Any recs? So far I have exploring the RiverWalk and the Alamo. Any other must dos or restaurants?
Re: San Antonio
Boudro's on the Riverwalk is a MUST! They have the best margarita, guac, and chicken dish I have ever had!! Rosario's and Iron Cactus are also favorites!
I haven't done them before, but Iove heard the mission walk is really neat - it's a bunch of old churches that you can tour. That's on my to-do list next time I go to SA.
Last time we went we did the riverwalk - take a boat tour. We ate at Casa Rio - the oldest restaurant on the River walk. Also the missions as mentioned in pp is a national park. You will need to drive between the various missions. Two of them have museums - The Alamo and Mission San Jose (National Park Visitor center). I used my iphone and an app to get a guided tour of Mission Concepcion. There is also a Spanish/mexican market but it has been a while since I went there. Now that I live in Texas mexican stuff is easy to buy anywhere.
DH did not want to do all the missions so we took a side trip to Gruene. There is an old dance hall there and frequently concerts. It is open air so it can be hot. The town is small with tourist shops and is on the river.
Enjoy.
