Braces and food

Hi,

I just got my braces on 2 days ago and what a joy it has been.

My biggest issue is they had to do "ramps" aka build ups on my teeth so that i dont bite the brackets off. So now I have a 1/4" gap in my bite, it makes it hard to eat anything.

Im already tired of the soups. So any suggestions would be nice. Also any suggestions on dealing with the eating and ramps would be great.

 Thanks!

Re: Braces and food

  • Not sure about the ramps thing... I did have oral surgery once where I wasn't allowed to chew anything for a month...  I ate a lot of applesauce, pudding, yogurt, cottage cheese, breakfast shakes, over-cooked pasta...
  • I've never had ramps but I've had extensive oral work done including jaw surgery. It may be easier if you try and stick with a "mush" died, as appealing as that sounds. Soft things like mashed potatoes, hummus, pancake soaked in syrup (I was desperate).... I know it can be rough, but hopefully you'll adjust to it and eventually be able to eat normally.
