Breitbart- Ad spending by state
Re: Breitbart- Ad spending by state
Thank you. I really appreciate your finding the info. I watched Rundown yesterday, but found it so boring. The ad buys were not mentioned.
1. Florida - $117.4 million
2. Ohio - $112.1 million
3. Virginia - $85.7 million
4. North Carolina - $56.5 million
5. Colorado ? $54.2 million
6. Iowa - $46.6 million
7. Nevada - $38.2 million
8. New Hampshire ? $25.3 million
9. Pennsylvania ? $19.3 million
10. Wisconsin - $8.1 million
11. Michigan - $8 million
12. Minnesota - $3.2 million
13. New Mexico - $49,000
These make sense. Florida, Ohio, and Virginia are must-haves for Romney. I am still confused about NC and how it really stands, given that one poll had Obama +1 and another Romney +10. I think it will go Republican, but it also should've been sewn up by now.
I feel that Romney may be wasting money in false hope (Nevada, Pennsylvania), and the number in WI should be beefed up.
I believe in the short run (and perhaps longer), Romney and Crossroads are pulling out of Penn and Michigan and focusing those dollars elsewhere.
Florida and Ohio are both must-win for Romney. Obama really only needs one of the two to basically cross the finish line. Romney can draw a map that doesn't need VA to win, but odds are if he carries FL the national trend is strong enough that he'll take VA anyways.
Nevada is interesting, and given how few electoral votes it has and how challenging it looks for Romney, it probably would make sense to shift at least some of those dollars to other states. Same with New Hampshire. If I was Romney I would view NH as "nice to have" but not worth 50% of Iowa and Colorado.
