new hobbies both my husband and I can enjoy

My husband and I are having trouble findings things to do together. He is in to playing pool, cards, and darts. I like these things but there has to be other things we can do, as I dont enjoy theses as much as him. I enjoy exercise as my hobby, but my husband only marginally enjoys this. Do any of you have suggestions or suggestions of how to figure out what we would both like to do? Preferrably ones that don't cost anything or cost very little. Thank you all in advance.

Re: new hobbies both my husband and I can enjoy

  • My husband and I sound a little similar to you and yours. We bonded over our music taste, but after a while it seemed like we had no interests in common. We've managed to continue to find things to do, though. If we go play cards one day, we go take a hike the next. Similarly, if we go play tennis or golf one day, we go play pool the next time we go out.

There are also small home improvement projects around the house that we both do together. There are so many DIY websites now, it's easy to do a lot of things on a budget.

Does he like sports? Do you? If so, join a team together (dodgeball, softball, etc.), play tennis, golf, go for hikes, walks, runs -- those are all relatively easy, fun sports.

Are you in a city? If so, start living like a tourist. Go see all of the sites that everyone else comes there to see.

    Hope this helps!

  • We work together on our house to. Just learned how to tile from him. At night we walk our dogs for at least one hour. Good time to enjoy the fresh air and to talk about anything. Don't lough but we both like South Park.
  • Hubby and I have been on a seriously tight budget while we look for work, so we've been finding things around our house to turn into something else (ie, old dresser turned into a doggy "command central" - turned the first drawer and top into a lid for dog food using old hinges, 2nd drawer stores the leash, toys, nail clippers, 3rd drawer got flipped over, cut out some holes, and stuck the bowls in there. Literally cost NOTHING). We check the "free" section in craigslist to see if there's anything we can play with too. Other than that, we'll pack picnic lunches and go to the park to feed the ducks, found a local farmers market we walk around in...maybe since your hubby likes cards you can place candles everywhere and set the mood for some steamy strip poker?

I really enjoyed looking at this site - some of their dates are a little cheesy, but there's ideas in there I really want to do!!! Check it out and see if anything looks fun :)

  • Thank you everyone! Great ideas. I never want to do projects around the house, mostly because I am lazy (and so is my husband), but hopefully we can make it fun! Again, thank you!
