My husband, 1 year old daughter and I will be moving to the Portland area next week-will be living in South Portland. Anyone with recommendations for a good daycare or pediatrician? We won't need the daycare right away, but do need to find a pediatrician relatively quickly
Thanks!
Re: moving to Portland
We go to Dr. Foster at Intermed, right downtown on Marginal Way in Portland. We've been really happy with the practice, and Dr. Foster in particular. He's very kind and gentle with our son.
We adore our daycare downtown too- Youth and Family Outreach. They are a non-profit center. I will say, if you aren't going to be working right downtown, I don't know how convenient it would be. But if you ARE in the city, they are really fantastic.
Welcome to Portland! Where are you moving from?
we love dr. morneault of sp pediatrics. theyre practice is near the mall and open 7 days a week. we've had to go a few times on a sunday and so thankful they were open. we are in an inhome day care in sp...off of highland ave..she's incredible and worth every penny. if you'd like more info let me know. welcome to portland! we are in Cape but i grew up in sp.
Welcome to Portland! My husband and I moved a couple of years ago from out of state and we have loved it.
I am still pregnant, so no actual experience there yet, but friends of ours highly recommended Dr. John Goodrich with Maine Medical Partners on Congress Street, so that is who we plan to use as soon as this little one gets here.
jd - I would love more info on your in-home daycare provider, if you don't mind! I will be bringing the baby to work with me to start, but hope to find another job next year and will most likely need daycare at that point. We have found a lot of the centers a bit pricey for our budget and I'd be interested to see if in-home is more affordable.
I think it totally depends on the area you are looking. I'm 30 minutes outside of Portland and all of the ones I was considering would have taken her the week I started inquiring. So no wait lists.
Congratulations on the move and I hope it goes smoothly for you!
