Contact Lens Cleaning Q

I am between eye doctors right now.

Many years ago, I wore basic daily-wear soft contact lenses and cleaned them with the AOSept system (lens cup, cleaning solution, neutralizer disc, etc.)  Eventually, I switched to extended wear lenses, which I still take out every night.  At that time, I also switched to a multi-purpose cleaning and storage solution.

The good news is that the multi-purpose, "no rub" cleaning solution is WAY cheaper than all the AOSept gear.  However, I have been wearing extended wear lenses for about 8 years, and I've never felt like the multipurpose solution was quite as effective, but -- hey, you're throwing the lenses out eventually anyway, right?

The other day, I saw that a generic version of the AOSept system is now available.  I'm guessing their patent must have expired.  So my question is:

Can I use AOSept or its generic version on my extended-wear soft lenses?
