Already thinking about Halloween :)
I took my kids to iParty today for some balloons and all the halloween costumes are out. My boys thought I should be Green Lantern... it was a rubber cat-woman suit... so not happening! But it did make me start thinking about costumes for an adult party a friend is having...
Any ideas for a cute costume for a fairly fit mom in her mid-30s? I don't mind a sexy look but don't subscribe to the "halloween costumes are just an excuse to dress like a porn star for a night" thing.
Re: Already thinking about Halloween :)
I usually buy my costume a year before when the costumes are marked down 70 to 80% off. I have a OliveOyl costume that I would be wearing.
I usually try to stay away from buying those box costumes as much as possible. I'll try to figure out a good costume based on my regular clothes - it usually makes for a much nicer look, and more appropriate for a 30-something. We're allowed to wear costumes to work for halloween, so it also helps make for a work-appropriate costume as well.
Last year, I wore my LBD with green opaque tights and black booties and just added a witch hat. I did some light costume-type makeup and that was it. I got compliments all day. (Also, I was able to work my gray coat into it, so I was even able to go around the neighborhood with my 10yo brother *in costume* and comfortable in the 30 degree evening)
This year, I'm thinking about going as Cleopatra - I have a white skirt, white long-sleeve top, just add the Cleopatra collar, clip-in blunt bangs, maybe a gold belt and nude heels.
Anyway, the point is, think about what's in your closet and what pairings you could costume-ize with a few accessories!
