Christmas Gift

I know, we haven't even gotten through Halloween yet, but I've been starting to try and get ideas for people so I'm not waiting till the last minute.

Last year, SIL (DD's godmother) said that she would like to start giving DD something every year that was special. Her godmother had given her a Waterford ornament every Christmas and they were some of her favorite ornaments that she still has today.  I thought this was a neat idea and will probably start doing it for our niece, since DH and I are her godparents.

Well, I'm also the godmother to my friends son and thought it might be a nice gesture to do something for him as well. Personally, I don' think an ornament is going to be something a boy would like or even cherish when he gets older. Can anyone think of something that I could get him annually?

I think it would depend on the ornament. My FIL gets the limited edition Hallmark Corvette & train ornaments every year. I know it's not Waterford or Lenox, but it might work.

I was also thinking that an ornament might still be good, just a different kind. DH has some Harley ornaments and some Star Wars ones that I know he really likes.

This was a gift from my mom, but I have a White House ornament for every year since I was born.  It helps that they actually started making them yearly the year I was born, but I LOVE them.  I plan on having a tree sometime in the near future with just WH ornaments.  They aren't particularly girly like crystal.  My mom has already started DS on his collection and will be starting them for this LO as well.

My MIL collects them too and has a tree just for WH ornaments. I think it's a very cool idea.
