S/O How much clothing does he need?

I went a little wild at the last consignment sale that I attended so I'm trying to curb my buying this time around.

I like to buy as much of his clothing at the consignment sale as I can. He is currently 6 months, will be 9 mos, 12 mos and nearly 15 mos by the time the spring sale rolls around. This sale is only for fall/winter items.

I had read somewhere that up to 6 mos you should allow for up to 3 changes of clothes a day.  Is that still a good rule of thumb at this age?

Any idea how many of the following I should allow for?

Onsies

Sleepers

Outfits (I try to buy outfits instead of separates so it's a no brainer for papa to dress him).

I do his laundry about every other day.

 TIA! and Happy Friday!

Re: S/O How much clothing does he need?

  • I think that's a lot of outfit changes per day.   At that age my kids weren't spitting up much anymore and I always put a bib on them while eating.  I would plan 1 outfit per day plus maybe an extra 3 outfits per week.  especally since you said you do laundry every couple of days.

  • If I did laundry every other day, my kid would probably have four outfits and three sleepers, max!  But I only do laundry once a week so I plan to have a week's worth of clothing in each size and not a whole lot more.

For 6-12 months, that means, roughly:

    7-10 short sleeve onesies

    7-10 long-sleeve onesies or t-shirts

    A few sweaters or hoodies

4-5 pairs of pants/jeans.  I found that he could wear pants more than once at that age.  Unless your kid is prone to blowouts, then you want more.  Same for onesies.

Sleepers - these are the things I think you can't have enough of.  When they get sick and go through 3 pairs of pjs in one night, you will curse yourself for not having enough.  I usually had 5 or so in each size and could have used more.
